SYNTHETICS - Germany MAGAZINE
1). Congratulations to your great
album "the charming factor". Your sound is fresh and goes
deep. What is the best think on your album?
Charlene: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy our album! I
think 'The Charming FActor' is extra special becuase it can
appeal to even the most discriminating listener. The album
is a great mix of songs that showcase our songwriting
skills. It would be very hard for someone to listen to our
album and get bored with it.
1). Your cd artwork is very great,
too. you´ve created it by yourself. is it an important point
for you to do it with your own hands?
Daniel: Knowing it is our first album, It has always
been extremely important to us to make this album completely
our own, from the artwork to the recording and even the
production. We have worked our whole lives to get to this
point and it is a real accomplishment to have a cd that is
so unique.
3). The opener song "golden glass"
shows many structures and layers in only one song. which
kind of music is blind faith and envy about?
Charlene: We are all about writing electro-based
pop/rock songs. We hope we never get pidgeon-holed into one
specific genre. Hopefully we will just be known as having
fantastic electronic music.
4). Very nice and strange sounds are
used to create a song like "major philosopher". the melody
is very poppy. what is a perfect song for you?
Charlene: A perfect song is one that many people can
relate to. It's a song that would be successful being played
just about anywhere. The song 'Major Philosopher' is on our
"free" downloadable single titled 'Crowded Room' on our
website www.BlindFaithandEnvy.com, check it out, it rocks!
5). My favourite song "Something
different" combines classic parts of synthpop with classical
ballad stuff, but the song is also danceable. did you dance
to your songs in the writing/ producing process? :-)
Charlene: My biggest problem is that I always want to
dance around when I am recording vocals, although I need to
be pretty still so that I can get a good take. It's really
good to get up and move, and music should drive people to do
just that.
Daniel: When I write these songs I try to create an
atmosphere that will make you move even if it is a soft
ballad, the most important thing to me in a song is the
emotional energy, and sometimes it may need a cool flowing
beat to make this happen. If I got up and danced every time
I wrote a song, I think that I would be so exhausted that it
would leave no time to mix and master. :)
6). On your album the song "shout"
from depeche mode was covered! what was your intention to do
that and why did you choose this song?
Daniel: Shout is an amazing song with honest heart
felt lyrics. When we first heard this song we were so
intrigued by the sentiment it portrayed, it was one amazing
line after another. Depeche Mode recorded this song very
early in their career and put it on a single, I knew it was
a song not many have heard and since it was a very important
song in both of our lives we decided to take this song in a
whole new direction, still with a fun danceable beat. It is
rather different from the original version, but we feel if
you are going to cover a song from another artist you should
at least give it your own spin. We are definitely excited
about that song and can't wait for everybody to hear it.
7). The charming factor also includes
bonus remixes. could you imagine to release a single from
this album which also includes other remixes of the songs?
and which song would it be?
Daniel: There are always ideas floating around about
which song to release as our next single, there are some
great artists doing some remixes now of several different
songs, this will of course help with the final decision. Be
sure to keep your eyes open for news of a new single coming
soon.
8). The most of your songs runs
nearlessly 4 minutes. Is it a determined time you dont want
to cross?
Charlene: I think it's cool to have an original song
that is relatively short in length, it is much easier to
receive radio play on radio stations all over the world.
Radio play is important to us, it's the best way to sell
music. Remixes should be longer as they are intended for
club DJ's to spin.
9). Infacted recordings make it
possible that germans can buy your cd, could you imagine to
play live here to perform your very great and strong songs?
Charlene: Yes, we would love to play live in Germany!
Both Daniel and I had Great Grandparents from Germany, so we
feel a strong connection to Germany. Neither of us have ever
been there and would love the opportunity to visit and play
several shows during that time.
Daniel: If we came to Germany we would be so
grateful, it would be such a proud moment in our lives to
perform in such a brilliant country. Torben from Infacted
Recordings is a wonderful person, we are so happy that he
works so hard to promote our music. Hopefully he will help
us set up shows and we can start promoting our album
overseas!
