SECTION 44 RECORDS
To sum it up in in one word, it's
Amazing!
It's been in the CD changer in my Expolrer, non-stop ever
since.
This album will be in my top 10 albums of 2006 easily, and
I'm casting my vote now for it to be the album of the year
in my book.
With their 2nd album, Blind Faith & Envy has come light
years ahead in production & songwriting. The programming is
complex, with tight well produced percussive textures,
excellent low end, and perfectionate bubbling analog as the
soundscape of BF&E's style runs the gamut between Synthpop &
Progressive Dance, with underlying Trance and EBM stylings;
and contemporary pop overtones.
Charlene April's voice soars across the album, and I can
easily compare her to greats such as Harriet Wheeler (The
Sundays) or Chrissy Jeter (System 22 / The Echoing Green).
Yet while defining her own unique vocal style and ability on
this album; Charlene has come into her own.
With "The Smallest Rewards" & "Dirty Town" running a solid
tie for 2nd, Track #2 "Orchid" has to be my favorite track
on the album hands down.
While not comparing the songs or music, "Orchid" is much
like the track I wrote for my son called "Fade" on the new
Provision album, in the sence that it brings tears to my
eyes every time I hear it. Songs like "Orchid" that touch
you in this way, are songs that stay with you a lifetime.
Thank You Charlene and Daniel!!!
For everything Blind Faith & Envy is and does, that I love
so much.
Congrats on your new release, everyone should have "Murder
of a Girl" in their C.D. collection.
